I tried several different contacts for my double-coated working line shepherd (including the usual recommended more expensive wings). The hypoallergenic thick-hair points have by far been the best. They keep consistent contact through his super thick coat and have been much better tolerated by him than the wings were (no scratching at this collar). I should also point out that since the wings/comfort pads bridge both contact points into a single circuit, their stim level can be perceived VERY differently depending on how much of the wire touches his skin (even at the same stim level). This is easy to try on yourself to see what I mean. I only learned about this after using the wings for a while with poor reliability. Either way, I can’t recommend them for that reason alone. Long story short, get the thick hair points for your GSD!
